Meatless on Monday?



In 2003, Meatless Monday was recreated as public health awareness programme. Its goal was to help Americans reduce their risk of preventable disease by cutting back saturated fat.

Going meatless once a week may reduce risk of preventable conditions like cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity. It also help reduce carbon foodprint and save resources like fresh water and fossil fuel.

REDUCE HEART DISEASE
Beans, peas, nuts, and seeds contain little or no saturated fats. Reducing saturated fat can help keep your cholestrol low, cut risk of cardiovascular disease.

LIMIT CANCER RISK
Hundreds of studies suggest that diets high in fruits and vegetable can reduce cancer risk. Red meat consumption is associated with colon cancer.

FIGHT DIABETES
Plant-based diets with low in processed meat can reduce your type 2 diabetes.

CURB OBESITY
A plant-based diet is great source of fibre, this make you feel full with low calories. ie. lower calorie intake and overeating.

LIVE LONGER
Red and processed meat consumption is associated with increment of mortality, cancer mortality, cardiovascular mortality.
